The Table Bluf Hotel and Saloon
Year: 1889
Location: Table Bluf, California
The Table Bluf Hotel and Saloon was the focal point of Table Bluf, California. The tavern was run by Seth Kinman, who had owned it for many years. He and his family were all buried in town. Table Bluf has a special history. Though it was a Wild West town in the late 1800s, it became a part of an evangelical movement in the 1970s, with young people flocking to live at a gospel ranch. From the Wild West to the Jesus Movement, Table Bluf has witnessed it all.

The Anti-Saloon League
Year: Early 1900s
Location: Western U.S.
This young lady is a representative of the Anti-Saloon League (formerly the American Council on Addiction and Alcohol Problems), a temperance group created in the late 1800s. The Anti-Saloon League, as the name implies, aimed to rid America of its drinking culture. The league utilized agitation tactics to mobilize people against the “liquor habit.” As you may expect, this went over like a lead balloon during the Wild, Wild West era, when saloons ruled communities.
