When Walken began to hyperventilate during an emotional scene, Leonardo DiCaprio admitted in a 2002 interview with the website IGN that he could sense anxiety growing. DiCaprio was totally persuaded it was real despite the fact that it was just an improvisation from the seasoned actor. He laughed, “I thought the man was having a heart attack in front of me. I honestly was about two seconds away from saying, ‘Cut! There’s something wrong with Chris!’”

In Wedding Crashers, Walken’s son Keir O’Donnell revealed to Mel magazine that Walken asked his driver to bring him and his son to the set at the same time every day, just like a real father and son. O’Donnell chuckled, “I still don’t know to this day if he was just messing with me, or if he liked the company, even though we never said a word to each other. Either way, it was a special moment for me.”
