Simple carbs include fructose and glucose, which your body converts to sugar. You don’t want a sugary cereal bar to raise your blood glucose levels. Some popular cereal bar brands, such as Nature Valley, Cliff, and Quaker Oats, contain too much sugar and fat for diabetics. Torey Armul, a spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, suggests eating nuts and fruit instead of a cereal bar.

If French fries had more fiber, the body could handle them, but they don’t. If you have diabetes, you should avoid eating French fries.
