Prince Philip of the United Kingdom died on April 9 at the age of 99. Buckingham Palace said at the time that Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, had “passed away peacefully” at Windsor Castle. Philip, the longest-serving royal consort in British history, was married to Elizabeth for 73 years and was the father of Prince Charles, the heir to the throne of the United Kingdom. In August 2017, the Duke of Edinburgh announced his retirement from public life.

Paul Ritter, a British actor who died at the age of 54 as a result of a brain tumor, was 54 years old. Mr. Ritter went away “peacefully at home with his wife Polly and kids Frank and Noah by his side,” according to his representative. Eldred Worple in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Guy Haines in the James Bond film “Quantum of Solace” were two of the roles he played during his career. Preceding his on-screen appearances, Ritter had a successful theatrical career, earning a nomination for an Olivier Award in 2006 for his performance in “Coram Boy.” In 2009, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance as the title character in “The Norman Conquests.”
