She told them, though, that such hazards should be minimally reduced with continuous monitoring. These were encouraging statements, so they began to contemplate keeping the kid; they were aware that this might be something new, but they wanted it deeply.

There was another important question that they needed to address. Suppose Monica and Michael decided or were able to have another child together. They were undoubtedly healthy and financially secure as a couple, but did they want to spend the next 18 years as full-time parents? They intended to tour the world or experiment with new interests.
