It started out like any other day. Delonda Walker awoke, dressed herself, and boarded the train to get to work in Ybor City. Delonda worked as a manager at McDonald’s, which was a good job but not her first choice. Her ambitions and ideals were far greater than her employment at McDonald’s, yet it paid the bills.
But she could never have predicted that she would run into one of Florida’s most notorious crooks on this particular day.
Change Of Routine
Routine is something that is frequently overlooked. Most individuals hope that their work will never change; that they will always follow the same procedure and speak with the same people, but routines change all the time.
Unfortunately, unpleasant and eerie aspects of life that most of us would prefer be unconscious of might disrupt these routines. In this story, it was the case.
She Started To Work
It started out like any other day at work. Delonda didn’t despise her job, but it wasn’t her passion either. She had recently completed a degree in French literature at the University of Tampa, and her ambition was to work as a researcher, but for the time being, she was content to pay her bills.
She arrived at McDonald’s, dressed in her uniform, and prepared for a full day at work. Delonda was the manager and had to deal with a variety of situations, but today would be a little different.
It Was Different
She worked the morning shift, and they were in a high-traffic area. This meant that a large number of individuals frequented the restaurant for breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.
She’d grown accustomed to the familiar faces that would stop by on a regular basis over the course of a few months. Every day seemed to blend into the next, but today was different.
She saw a customer she had never seen before that day. But that was only the beginning of the strangeness; there was a lot more to it.
He exuded a weird and unsettling air, and she couldn’t shake the terrible sensation she got in her stomach. One could think he was simply another one of the neighborhood’s homeless folks, but he wasn’t. He wore himself in such a way that he seemed to be posing a threat. Delonda couldn’t help but be apprehensive.
A Bad Feeling
She determined that it was best to ignore it. What is the point of being sacred? What could he possibly do in such a crowded and public place? He was surely just some odd dude from the street, she kept thinking herself.
He was a little weird, but that was the extent of his creepiness. At least, that’s what she hoped. But it didn’t make her stomach feel any better. There was something wrong with this dude.
Only Got Worse
He took a step closer to the counter and raised his eyes to the menu above her. Her blood flowed cold, and she felt a shudder run down her spine.
Before telling him what he wanted, she tried to gather herself and compose herself. As she waited for him to respond, the eerie feeling intensified.
She felt relieved when he finally gave her his command. At the very least, their interaction would come to a stop soon. She only had to collect the payment, hand him his lunch, and watch him walk out the door.
He received his order and paid in cash. But instead of leaving, he did something unexpected for Delonda.
In The Trash
He went away after hurriedly tossing a plastic bag into the garbage. He walked up to the door and walked out of the restaurant as quickly as he could.
Delonda was perplexed. Was he playing a joke on her? Already, this was one of the oddest shifts she’d ever worked. She was intrigued by the contents of the bag. She walked over to the trashcan and peered inside. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw what she saw.
What Was Inside?
She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw what she did. Inside the bag, there was a gun! Her stomach sank, and her heart began to beat faster. Was he a thug or possibly a creep? He could have been a prankster.
She checked to see if the rifle was loaded, and it was. She was terrified like she had never been before and immediately reported the occurrence to the authorities.
